How Great Thou Art – Swedish Folk Melody, Manna Music The Title “col·lage: 1: anything made of odd parts or pieces; 2: a composite or mixture.” The cover design of this CD clearly demonstrates the principle of collage. Various visual elements have been combined to produce a composite. But the significance of this title goes far beyond the cover. The selection of repertoire is also a demonstration of collage. There are songs, technical solos and longer compositions. We chose accessible pieces that can be enjoyed by listeners outside of the euphonium world (for instance, my mother). At the same time, these are viable and substantial works within the euphonium world. More broadly, my life is actually a collage. So many different elements form the composite of who I am: my roots in small-town America, my new home in Germany, my faith in God, my family and friends, my passion for teaching, my love of performing… Finally, I want to include a collage of genuine thankfulness to: * God * My family and friends, who through the years encouraged me to think possibilities, to keep reaching, to work at growing. * The four teachers who have significantly shaped and formed me: Kenley Inglefield, Brian Bowman, Fritz Kaenzig and Abbie Conant. So this is the production we call “Collage”. I hope you enjoy it! –Angie Hunter Angie Hunter, originally from Greenwich, Ohio, studied euphonium at Bowling Green State University (BM, 1983) and at the university of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (MM, 1986), as well as trombone at the Conservatory of Music in Trossingen, Germany (Artist’s Certificate, 1999).
