This is a simple, elegant setting of “This Is My Father’s World”. An original theme is surrounded by verses of the hymn. It can serve as a sacred song for a worship service or as a lyrical recital piece.
This is the first to be released of a suite of Celtic music. Each movement will contain a different type of Celtic folk tune and a traditional hymn. The Hornpipe combines The Rights of Man with Standing on the Promises in a rousing barnburner. These were inspired by a collaboration with Irish Whistler Bob Pegritz.
This arrangement was written to be played during Holy Week services. It is a minor-keyed contemplation of the African-American Spiritual “Were You There,” taking after a Chopin Prelude.
I wrote this arrangement after hearing a performance by Roger McMurrin and the Kyiv Symphony Chorus. This is considered the national spiritual song of Ukraine and was written in the 19th century. My arrangement is done as a prayer for peace and a tribute to the people of Ukraine.
